CARING FOR OUR WATERSHEDS: DC is open to Grade 6-10 classrooms who attend school in the city of Washington, DC.

Classrooms are asked to submit proposals that answer the question:

“What can you do to improve your watershed?”

  • Classrooms will compete for $6,000
  • Participating schools and clubs are eligible for $10,000
  • Implementation funding is available for $10,000. All classes are encouraged to implement their ideas.

Thank you to all of the students who participated in this contest.  The $1,000 first place prize was awarded to students from School Without Walls at Francis Stevens for their proposal, “A Drippy Way to a Better Watershed” which consists of installing a drip irrigation system to reduce water waste and ponding that led to mosquito problems.
