Turning ideas into environmental solutions.
CARING FOR OUR WATERSHEDS™ is an education program that engages students in preserving and improving their local watersheds.
Caring for our Watersheds asks students to submit a proposal that answers:
“What can you do to improve your watershed?”
Students must research their local watershed, identify an environmental concern and come up with a realistic solution. Mentors from industry, education and conservation help student's learn, innovate and above all take action to protect our land, air and water.
Prizes are awarded to students, schools and implemented ideas.
Student's Idea Implemented Internationally
Thousands of miles apart a common plan to help the environment has emerged by youth who didn’t even know each other. As part of the Caring for our Watersheds program students in Saskatchewan, Canada and Virginia, USA decided it was time the community collect and store rain. A great way to save money, energy and collect water that would otherwise be lost to runoff – even better if the barrels are decorated by the students!
Caring for our Watersheds is helping the students implement their idea internationally! 300 free rain barrels will be given away to communities in North America, South America and Australia!
Rain Barrel Decoration Contest:
Participating schools are eligible to win $1,000 for the school simply by decorating the rain barrels! Learn more here
